7 Things to Do the Week of Your Wedding

You’ve been planning for what seems like forever and just like that – there’s only one week left before you can finally be married. What seems like a far-off, distant event is now right around the corner.

As you plan for a busy (and exciting!) week ahead, don’t forget to add these to-dos to your shrinking list of last-minute wedding preparations.

7 Things to Do the Week of Your Wedding

Marriage License. If you don’t have it yet, get it! This is a huge step toward becoming Mr. and Mrs. Ask someone to take your picture with your marriage license and celebrate with lunch afterwards. Then when you get home, check to make sure all documents are accounted for and your two witnesses are lined up to sign it.

Meet with Your Coordinator. A source of steady reassurance, your wedding coordinator knows how anxious and excited you are about the days ahead. Call on your wedding best friend (that’s what we call them at Hermann Hill) to help you navigate this emotion-filled final week.

Together you’ll run through your wedding day timelines, allowing them to be fresh in your mind as you inch closer to this ever-important day. Going over the plans will soothe your nerves, too.

Make a Get-Ready Playlist. There is a lot to do on the morning of your big day. Have a playlist on tap that you can jam out to or be serenaded by – whatever your style – as you get ready.

Our top favorites include:

  • “Love Story” by Taylor Swift
  • “You’re The One That I Want” from Grease
  • “Good as Hell” by Lizzo
  • “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!” by Shania Twain
  • “We Found Love” by Rihanna ft. Calvin Harris
  • “Truth Hurts” by Lizzo
  • “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper

Include those songs that you loved while you were growing up, too. At Hermann Hill, we notice quite a difference in excitement levels with a well-thought out playlist. So be sure to take some time to put yours together – just the way you want it.

Get a Couples Massage. Really – what is more relaxing than a couples massage? Calm your nerves and release tension with a soothing massage the week before your wedding.

Alongside our luxurious boutique hotel and secluded river bluff cottages, Hermann Hill has a state-of-the-art spa that makes for a perfect spot for a bit of respite before your wedding day activities. Be sure to make an appointment a few weeks in advance.

Designate Someone to Keep You Fed. What will you eat while you are getting ready? Staying hydrated and fed prevents tension headaches and other side effects of normal stress that often accompanies a wedding ceremony.

Putting someone in charge of making sure you are taking care of yourself in the hours leading up to your big day ensures you are feeling your best. And at Hermann Hill, we offer a light lunch option – making it convenient for you and your wedding party.

Manicures and Pedicures. Whether you go solo or with your entire wedding party, getting your nails done is one of the more fun things to do before your big day. Our wedding team recommends scheduling this 1-2 days before and bringing the shade with you the day of  in case of emergencies.

Plan a Date Night.  Have a date night with your soon-to-be-spouse but challenge yourselves to not talk about the wedding at all. Push the wedding planning details aside for the night. Focus on the two of you and what you love about one another. Another fun idea is to recreate your first date just before you exchange vows.

This time always flies by, so do your best to take deep breaths and enjoy the final days of your engagement.

And if you are newly engaged and looking for a place to say, “I do,” look no further than Hermann Hill. Whether you want a ceremony two years or two weeks from now, we want to help you plan your wedding, your way!
